Flower Tips
Hellebores
Make slit with sharp blade on both sides of stem and place in warm water up to the neck for several hours.
Poppies
Pick when bud is mostly closed, but shows some color. Burn end with lighter when picked. If stem is recut, repeat the process.
Hydrangeas
Recut stem, place in hot water with Quick Dip. Leave several hours. If they droop cut stem and place in hot water for several hours.
Peonies
Store in refrigerator , no water, up to several weeks. Remove from refrigerator when ready to use, recut stem and place in hot water.
Tip for all flowers
When arranging remove all foliage from the stems that would be underwater.
Gathering
Gather flowers early in the morning or in late afternoon. Not in the heat of the day!
